Scent Notes: Pine Tar, Blue Spruce, Silver Fir, Snow Covered Pines, & Cedarwood

Maker’s Note: Pine Tar is its own scent and is very hard to cover up because it’s so distinct... but, I did add some scent to this soap to compliment it. Keep in mind however, that this soap smells unmistakably like pine tar regardless. Read more about this below… ⬇️

What is pine tar? Why put it in soap?

Pine tar is made by burning pine wood and has a long history of use, originating in Scandinavia.

Pine tar has a fresh, invigorating scent. The scent of pine has been associated with fresh air and cleanliness for decades. This soap has a strong and bold scent that is often referred to as a woodsy, campfire scent with pine needle notes. It may be intense for some, especially if you are unfamiliar with pine tar soaps, but some people really enjoy the smell. Many customers who may not favor the scent still choose to use the soap for its incredible benefits. It is a very personal decision based on personal preferences, but I do know my husband loves it!

The natural antibacterial properties of pine tar may prevent the growth of bacteria that are responsible for body odor. It has been an extremely valuable resource in the skincare and medicine industry as it allegedly can help soothe skin conditions such as dry skin, eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis, hives, and other dry, flaky, or itchy skin conditions.

The pine tar mixed with the tallow in our soap is a potentially quite soothing combination. While the tallow is believed to keep your skin smooth, moisturized, and tight, pine tar is also known for similar uses, and both can possibly help to soothe common ailments that other soaps can’t.

However, I don’t make any medical or cosmetic claims for any of my soaps. All the information given is for educational purposes only and is not a promise to cure, treat, or prevent any disease or ailment. That said, if you want to get the most out of this pine tar and tallow soap, don’t rinse it off immediately. Let the lather sit on your skin for a minute or so and then rinse. This gives the ingredients the best chance to possibly help your skin. At the end of the day, if nothing else, your skin will at least be clean! =)

Ingredients: Coconut Oil, Grass-Fed Deodorized Tallow, Safflower Oil, Distilled Water {Tussah Silk Infusion}, Sodium Hydroxide, Pine Tar, Shea Butter, Castor Oil, Avocado Oil, Phthalate-Free Fragrance, Cosmetic Colorant, Sugar

Weight: 4oz | 113g -  this is a MINIMUM weight, most of my soaps weigh more but you’re guaranteed approximately 4oz at minimum.

Please note that each bar is entirely made by hand. There will be minor design, color, and size imperfections- none of which will affect the usage of the soap. This gives each bar character, and reminds you that it was made by a real person with love and care instead of by a machine in a factory.  Each scent has a different strength; some are lighter than others.

Care Instructions

Store your bars in a cool, dry place when not in use (if possible). Use a well-draining soap dish. Do not allow bar to sit in water, keep it dry and it will last you longer!
